Statement of Faith
The Scriptures – The Bible is God’s Word for mankind. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, it is God’s revelation of Himself to man. Totally true and trustworthy, it holds authority over all we are and do. It is a lamp unto our feet and a light for our path.
God – There is only one God, He always was and always will be, eternally existent in three Persons, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
God the Father – God as “our Father in Heaven” is our Deliverer, our Healer, and Provider. He is Father to the fatherless and the One to whom we pray.
God the Son – Jesus Christ created all things in the beginning. In His incarnation (coming to earth to live as a man) He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, and lived a sinless life. He came to earth to purchase mankind back as our Redeemer (through His death, burial, and resurrection), restoring the relationship with God for all who believe in Him.
God the Holy Spirit – The Holy Spirit draws all people to the Savior, Jesus Christ. He resides in all who receive Christ as their savior and works regeneration in all Children of God. As our Counselor, He illuminates the Scriptures, convicts men of sin and of righteousness, comforts believers, bestows the spiritual gifts and enables believers to live a Godly life.
Man – God created man, both male and female, in His own likeness and image. Man was given the earth to rule and subdue, but chose to disobey and fell short of the glory of God, becoming spiritually separated from God.
Salvation – Mankind has been separated from God by sin and the wages of sin is death, but Jesus died on our behalf that whoever believes in Him will have eternal life. Salvation is a gift of God’s grace, through faith in Jesus Christ, that comes with God’s assurance that we know we have eternal life and that no one can remove us from the security of His hand.
The Church – The church is the body of Christ, all believers, working together to spread the message of salvation and to equip God’s people for service in the Kingdom. We are to gather together regularly to help care for, encourage and pray for each other, study God’s Word, and to worship God in spirit and truth.
Baptism – Baptism is a demonstration of what has spiritually taken place in the life of a believer in Jesus Christ, identifying with Christ death (to our old ways), burial (down into the water), and resurrection (up from the water). Baptism represents both Christ’s resurrection from the tomb and the resurrection of all believers yet to come.
The Lord’s Supper – The Lord’s Supper is one of the two ordinances of the New Testament church, the other being Baptism. Taken on a regular basis, it serves to remind us of what Christ did for us, His body broken and His blood shed for us.
Evangelism and Missions – Evangelism and missions are the way Christ’s message of salvation is spread. It is the duty and privilege of believers in Jesus Christ to participate in telling others about Christ through our actions, our words and our giving.
Stewardship – Everything that we are and possess comes from God and has been given to us to care for while we are on this earth. We give back to God’s work through the local church so that the message of salvation through Jesus Christ may multiply across the land.
